Finding an Affordable Health Insurance Plan
from:
It seems as if every time you look around everything from gasoline to your favorite candy bar has increased in price. The old man was right! Money really does make the world go round! You do your best to work hard in order to be able to play hard, but then you realize you also have to protect your health if you're going to be able to continue enjoying everything that life has to offer.
With the high cost of health care and a bad turn with an unexpected health problem, your money can quickly evaporate, which is why you must purchase health insurance in order to buffer your finances against sudden health care needs.
In the past, you may have always spent your money for the pleasures in life and had little left over for a health insurance premiums. If that's the case, then here’s how to curb the high price of health insurance plans:
1. Don't follow the old motto by living fast for tomorrow you die. No! If you do, not a single insurance company will provide you with their services. Actually, many insurance companies are now motivating their own customers to live more healthy lives by rewarding those who stay in shape by visiting a fitness center regularly and by eating better and healthier foods. If you're healthy and live your life carefully (i.e. no extreme sports, sky diving etc.) then a health insurance company will likely give you a reduced premium.
2. Obtain a background check on your date, fiancée, or girl/boyfriend if he or she has a good health insurance plan that has spousal coverage and then tie the knot with him or her. Kidding aside, if your spouse already has a sizable health insurance and a stable job then his or her health insurance can cover you with its spouse coverage. So love him or her for eternity.
3. Be prepared for physical and diagnostic tests. Nothing beats preparation and knowing about the procedures you'll undergo to qualify for a low cost health insurance is wise. To do this, ask your doctor about the specifics and the dos and don'ts of these procedures. For instance, smoking or drinking coffee can increase your blood pressure, so you might consider quitting smoking.
4. When a health insurance representatives visit you, keep in mind that it's not a social visit. They will likely interrogate you about your medical and family history to get the information they deem important. In answering their questions it's best to answer them accurately. This is important, especially when they ask you about past illnesses. You must explain to them comprehensively if you had a minor mishap. Make sure to tell them honestly about your medical history as they'll likely find out this information anyway.
5. When 'window shopping' for health insurance, it's best to do it in secret. Insurance companies might not like you snooping around and may alert others to blacklist you. In order to do this, you could hire a broker and inform him that you're shopping for an affordable health insurance plan secretly. Your broker will understand.
6. If all else fails, move to another state where they provide their residents almost free health insurance programs. Some states have programs that provide very affordable health insurance without compromising the quality of health care benefits.
If you follow some of these suggestions, there's no reason why you can't find an affordable health insurance.
