Get Group Health Insurance for Your Business
from:
Once you leaving corporate America it means you have the freedom to start your own business and the freedom to be with your family whenever you want.
However, you must remember that when you left your corporate job to start your own small business, you probably left the benefits you had with the company behind. One of these benefits was likely being a member of their group health insurance.
A group health insurance is a type of health insurance offered by businesses to attract and keep good employees. It's also one of the main reasons why many people, even those who aren't completely satisfied with their, won't leave their career in the company. Let's face it, who wouldn't want maintain their cheap health insurance with good coverage?
Many health insurance policies are either very expensive or low cost because they only have minimum coverage. What you really need is a low cost health insurance plan with good coverage. Group health insurance offers this advantage because your company will be paying most of your monthly premiums.
Just remember, if you start your own small business, you'll have your freedom, but not having health insurance coverage for yourself and your family is something you should always consider. Here are some options available to you if you decide to leave the benefits your company used to provide you.
The most common way to obtain cheap health insurance is through coverage under a spouse's health insurance plan if one is available. As long as one member of couple is working for a company with group health insurance benefits, you and your family will have this type of coverage.
Another alternative if leave corporate America and your spouse has no group coverage is COBRA. This option allows you to remain a member of your former company's group health insurance. However, this is only temporary and your employer won't pay for the monthly premiums as they used to do. You'll be required to pay the entire monthly premium and retain membership for a limited time only, which is expensive since your former company doesn't pay any part of the monthly premium. However, it may still be more affordable than purchasing individual health insurance, however, keep in mind that this is just a temporary solution until you find your own low-cost health insurance policy for you and your family.
The next best option for you is to join a cooperative or an organization of small business owners. There are organizations for self-employed or small business owners that combine their buying power to get lower-cost group health insurance.
The last option is to get your own group health insurance. Since you'll be starting your own business, you'll be able to get affordable rates for group health insurance. Some insurance companies offer this kind of health insurance to encourage small business owners to get health insurance for themselves and their employees.
However, in order to qualify, you'll need to register your small business and have at least two employees to a maximum of fifty employees. Also, your employees should be permanent and not temporary or contractual employees.
Whichever option you prefer, it's important to remember that there's always the possibility an accident or illness could happen at any time that may require a substantial expense for treatment. Therefore, obtaining health insurance for you and your family is something you should take care of as soon as you start your new business.
