TRICARE Health Care Program: Attending to Medical Insurance Needs of Uniformed Personnel

from:

Medical insurance may probably be the last thing on your priority list, since you are too much pre-occupied about your other important expenses such as your credit card and home mortgage. However, if you think that your other expenses may give you the financial risk you are afraid of, the same thing also applies once you do not have medical insurance.

Worse, financial risk is not the only thing that may happen to you once you do not have medical insurance. There is also a major risk to your health as well as to your life.

Just imagine you are in a situation where you are in need of money to finance your medical expenses due to your long-time heath problems yet you are helpless because you have no medical plans to cover your hospital or medicine expenses. Since you do not have sufficient funds, there is a tendency that you might use your money intended for home mortgage or credit card payments just to pay your medical expenses. It may lead to more serious problems such as bad credit rating due to non-payment of your home mortgage or credit cards.

Medical insurance is the thing that you should not be afraid of. Unlike your home mortgage or credit cards where you need to have that good credit rating before you will be approved, almost everybody are entitled to apply and receive health benefits from a medical insurance as long as you have the capability to pay the premiums or other applicable fees.

So if you are a member of the United States Armed Forces, you and your family are entitled to a medical insurance coverage. The federal government launched a program that will answer the needs of their uniformed personnel in terms of medical benefits.

About TRICARE

TRICARE is a health care program created both for active and retired members of the uniformed services (members of the United States Armed Forces) together with their respective families and dependents. Its main objectives are the following:

• To optimize medical care services delivery in the direct care system of the military in all MHS or Military Heath System beneficiaries; and

• To reach the highest possible level of patient satisfaction by means of delivering world-class medical insurance plans.

TRICARE combines the medical care resources of the three branches of the USAF (Navy, Army, and Air Force) and supplement any deficiencies with the networks of civilian medical care professionals to give the necessary access to high quality medical care services and at the same time maintaining the ability to support its military operations.

The medical insurance policy offered through the TRICARE health program covers the standard as well as additional medical services needed by the uniformed personnel, especially during times of military combat operation. It shoulders all the possible medical care needs such as hospital confinement and medications. In addition, it also includes the same coverage for the uniformed personnel’s families and survivors.

Medical insurance is for everybody. If you are an Army or a Navy officer, you are entitled to most benefits since you are one of the elite forces fighting for the security of the country. You always place your health at risk during operation. Therefore, you are entitled to a medical insurance policy under the TRICARE program.
