Temporary Health Insurance: A Cheap Way to Get Insured

from:

Quitting or losing your job may also mean losing all the benefits you had in your former company. You will lose benefits like your former company’s group health insurance plans. Also, it is very difficult for new graduates to get approval from insurance companies when they apply for permanent insurance policies.

However, people who have lost their health benefits or who still doesn’t have permanent health insurance, can still get health security by purchasing temporary or short-term insurance policies. Doing this will ensure you protection during the time you still don’t have permanent health insurance.

However, as the name suggests, short-term insurance is only temporary and should never be considered as an alternative from permanent health insurance. Temporary health insurance is usually cheap and is made available and is designed to all types of people who seek health security.

Applying for temporary health insurance is very simple. This is because these policies are designed to cover unforeseen accidents and other emergency situations. You can get covered if you suddenly get hospitalized if you get involved in an accident or get unexpectedly ill. However, you should know that this kind of insurance is not recommended for comprehensive health care.

One disadvantage of temporary health insurance plans is that short term health insurance plans are ineligible for guaranteed issue health insurance plans. This means that it can make the plan very expensive if you have pre-existing medical condition when you apply. Short-term health insurance plans do not cover pre-existing medical conditions.

So, if you have a serious pre-existing medical condition, it is recommended that you shouldn’t purchase short-term health insurance plan. You will just waste money if you do. It is recommended that you seek advice from insurance advisors about health securities regarding your pre-existing medical condition.

However, if you don’t have a pre-existing medical condition and you are still waiting for your permanent health insurance to be processed and be approved or if you still haven’t chosen a permanent health insurance plan, you can always depend on short-term insurance plan.

Short-term insurance plan can work as a temporary form of insurance. So, always remember that although this kind of insurance plan is cheap and can cover emergency hospitalization expenses, you should never make it as an alternative for permanent health insurance plan.

It is wise to apply for permanent health insurance plan or long-term health insurance plan after you are covered by the short-term insurance plan. By doing this, you can be sure of health security while you wait for your permanent health insurance plan to be processed and approved by insurance companies.

Short-term insurance plan can give you health benefits even if you are not yet insured with permanent health insurance plans. Always remember that health security should always be on top of your priorities, you should never wait for anything bad to happen to you or your family before you purchase health insurance.

Temporary health insurance policies can really help you in many ways. Consider buying one if you still haven’t chosen the right permanent health insurance plan for you.

Once you found the right insurance plan for you, you can always call the insurance company and cancel your temporary health insurance plan.

Always remember that accidents are always lurking around the corner, you will never know when you will get involved in one and you will also never know when you will get ill. Think of the possible expenses you will have to make if you don’t have health insurance.
